The Friends serve as a link between the Library and the community.

Established in 1980.

The Friends of the Fresno County Public Library was formed in 1980 by a group of concerned citizens to serve as a link between the Library and the community and to raise money for special projects.

In the 1990s, the Friends of the Library supported the passage of Measure B, a 1/8 cent sales tax for the purpose of Library operations. Since the passage of Measure B in 1998 and again in 2014, library usage has soared—circulation has doubled and participation in library programs for all ages has increased dramatically.

The Friends of the Library is a 501 (c)(3), 509 (a)(1) and 170 (b)(1)(A)(6). Your membership and donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by state and federal law.

Become a Friend today!

Your tax-deductible memberships and donations help us help the Library!

When you join your Branch Friends, any dues paid over $15 go directly to that branch! (If your favorite branch is not yet listed, please let us know and we'll get right on it! This is a work in progress.)

Be sure to visit our Bookshop!

The Friends of the Fresno County Public Library Bookshop is volunteer-run and supported by community donations; plus, all proceeds go directly back into the Fresno County Public Library via the Friends! We get hundreds of new books in every week, so you never know what you'll find, and our prices are absolutely unbeatable!

Visit us on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 PM at 5568 East Kings Canyon, right next door to the Sunnyside Library. We accept cash, card, and digital wallet payments!
